{"id":161,"date":"2015-01-21T12:56:29","date_gmt":"2015-01-21T12:56:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cleanenergyworld.net\/index.php\/2015\/01\/21\/malaysia-plans-to-increase-renewable-energy-mix-in-2015\/"},"modified":"2015-01-21T12:56:29","modified_gmt":"2015-01-21T12:56:29","slug":"malaysia-plans-to-increase-renewable-energy-mix-in-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cleanenergyworld.net\/index.php\/2015\/01\/21\/malaysia-plans-to-increase-renewable-energy-mix-in-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Malaysia Plans to Increase Renewable Energy Mix in 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Malaysian government has set a target of increasing the share of renewable energy in the country\u2019s electricity generation to 5% this year from 2% currently.<\/p>\n<p>Malaysian Investment Development Authority Deputy Chief Executive Officer Datuk Phang Ah Tong said the target was already set in the 10<sup>th<\/sup> Malaysia Plan, but production from clean energy was below target. \u201cWe have to catch up as by the 11th Malaysia Plan, we are looking at a 11 per cent contribution from clean energy,\u201d Phang was quoted by national news agency Bernama as saying.<\/p>\n<p>Malaysia\u2019s installed power capacity stands at 21,000 megawatts, of which only about 2,500MW comes from renewable sources. \u201cWe hope this will increase our energy mix as we are currently relying more on coal and natural gas.
