The biggest solar power plant of a public enterprise in Turkey has won the ICCI<\/a> Energy Award. The 5.3 MW plant is operated by Turgut \u00d6zal Medical Centre<\/a> of \u0130n\u00f6n\u00fc University<\/a> in Malatya, Eastern Turkey. ICCI 2016 will open its doors April 27-29 in Istanbul.<\/p>\n

The power plant of the university hospital<\/a> was awarded due to its model character, its good performance and its contribution to the regional development of the eastern Anatolian province Malatya. The 5.3 MW installation has provided 9,000 MWh electricity since its inauguration February 2015. This counts for around one-third of the electricity consumption of the university clinic, that is fully ventilated, heated and cooled by air-conditioning systems. The ground-mounted installation covers an area of 100.000 m2 <\/sup>. 22,177 Jinko solar modules are installed. Total costs were 6.4 million Euro. 85 percent were covered by a 7-year bank loan and 15 percent through the general state budget.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe engagement of universities as \u0130n\u00f6n\u00fc, other public enterprises and of cities has great importance for the market penetration of solar power in Turkey\u201d, says Murat \u00d6zer, Deputy General Manager of Hannover Fairs Turkey<\/a>, who organizes ICCI 2016<\/a>. Around 340 exhibitors and over 16,000 professionals are expected to attend the 22nd International Energy and Environmental Fair and Conference April 27-29 in Istanbul.
