Renewable energy developer SSE has signed an agreement to sell its 16-megawatt Langhope Rig wind farm near Hawick in the Scottish Borders to GE Capital.<\/p>\n

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. GE will assume ownership and operation of the project when construction is completed in spring of 2015.<\/p>\n

Under the agreement, the \u00a35,000 (US$9400) per-MW community investment fund associated with the project will be transferred over to GE to manage and is therefore protected for the nearby communities hosting the wind farm.<\/p>\n

The Langhope Rig wind farm comprises 10 of GE\u2019s 1.6-megawatt wind turbines which GE Energy UK will service under a long-term operations and maintenance agreement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
