Roxas to Start Work on 40-MW Biomass Joint Venture This Year

Philippine bioenergy and sugar producer Roxas Holdings Inc. expects to start work on a 40-megawatt biomass plant late this year, with completion due in 2017.

The project, a joint venture with Global Business Power Corp., will be located at in Negros Occidental. The partners are currently reviewing financial details of the project, Business World quoted Roxas Chairman Pedro E. Roxas as saying.

Roxas’ sugar mill will utilise about 15MW of the electricity that is produced, with the rest sold to off-takers.
