SSE to Sell 16-MW Scottish Wind Farm to GE

Renewable energy developer SSE has signed an agreement to sell its 16-megawatt Langhope Rig wind farm near Hawick in the Scottish Borders to GE Capital.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. GE will assume ownership and operation of the project when construction is completed in spring of 2015.

Under the agreement, the £5,000 (US$9400) per-MW community investment fund associated with the project will be transferred over to GE to manage and is therefore protected for the nearby communities hosting the wind farm.

The Langhope Rig wind farm comprises 10 of GE’s 1.6-megawatt wind turbines which GE Energy UK will service under a long-term operations and maintenance agreement.
