Enel Green Power Starts Construction of 8-MW Wind Farm in Italy

Renewable energy project developer Enel Green Power has begun construction of a 8-megawatt wind farm in the municipalities of Barile and Venosa, near Potenza, in the region of Basilicata.

The Barile Venosa plant will be able to generate more than 22 gigawatt-hours per year once it is operating, equivalent to the energy needs of around 1,800 Italian households and reduce emissions of nearly 9,000 tonnes of CO2 each year.

The project will cost EUR 11 million (US$12.5 million) and will be built close to the 18-MW Potenza-Pietragalla wind farm, which has been operating since 2012. The Barile Venosa plant will be offered an incentivized tariff over the next 20 years. Enel was awarded the tariff through its participation in the dedicated tender held in 2014.
