Hawaii Electric Light Co. has selected Ormat to provide an additional 25 megawatts of geothermal energy for Hawaii Island following a competitive tender.
Hawaii Electric will now begin contract negotiations with Ormat, with an agreement to be submitted to the Public Utilities Commission for approval. A RFP for the project was issued in early November 2012.
