Nordex Scoops Turbine Supply Order for 146-Mw Uruguay Wind Project

Wind turbine maker Nordex has won order to supply a 146-megawatt wind farm in Uruguay that is being developed by the country’s state-owned utility Usinas y Trasmisiones Electricas.

Nordex will supply 59 sets of its 2.4-MW turbines to the Pampa wind farm at Tacuarembo, and will continue to service the plant for a 10-year period after it starts operating. Nordex will commence infrastructure work on access routes, foundations and cabling. in the first half of 2015.

The wind farm is expected to start operating in mid-2016. It is financed by KfW IMPEX-Bank and Bayerische Landesbank.

Nordex has installed a total of 49 turbines with a combined capacity of almost 120MW in Uruguay.
