Grid Feeding Solar: KACO Agrees To Supply 300MW Of Inverters To South Korean DNE

KACO new energy GmbH, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of inverters for grid feeding of solar power has concluded an agreement to supply 300 MW of inverters to South Korean system provider and EPC company DNE Solar Ltd. The German company will deliver string inverters, devices that are primarily used with commercial rooftop and utility-scale solar systems. The new contract will means a doubling of the past five year’s overall volume of trade between the two companies and DNE will only purchase string inverters from KACO.

Xcel Files 1,230 MW Wind Proposal Claiming $2.8Bn Customer Savings Over 30 Years

Xcel Energy has filed a proposal, seeking approval to construct the 522MW Sagamore wind facility in New Mexico and the 478MW Hale wind facility in Texas, as well as a long-term PPA in Texas for 230MW supplied by the Bonita wind facility. The utility company forecasts that this will save customers located in both states approximately $2.8 billion over a 30-year period, borne from integrating the lower-cost wind energy resources into the company’s energy portfolio. The additional 1,230 MW of wind energy is enough electricity to power more than 440,000 typical homes, according to Xcel.

Kalyon Enerji, Hanwha Q CELLS JV – Winners Of Turkey’s Largest Ever Tender

A joint venture formed by Kalyon Enerji and Hanwha Q CELLS. has won the tender to build a 1,000 MW solar power plant in the Karapınar region in Turkey with the bid of 6.99 USD-cent per kWh. It is the conclusion to the tender for the biggest renewable energy project in Turkey’s history. According to the tender rules, this price will be valid for 15 years and companies have 30 years of usage rights. Also, all components used in this project will be manufactured locally. The 1 GW solar power plant, which will be operational within 36 months.

SunPower Is Top Panels Provider In First Round Of French Solar Projects Tender

SunPower has announced that, in the first round of France’s tender process for large-scale solar power, the company will supply 31 percent of the solar panels required for the awarded solar projects, more than any other solar panel brand. In total, the company will provide 130MW of its high-efficiency SunPower® E-Series solar panels for installation at 25 ground-mount and carport solar projects. The company states that a majority of the panels will be manufactured at its facilities in Toulouse, France.

Tata Ramps Up Manufacturing Capabilities To Meet Increased Demand For Modules

Keeping up with Government of India’s progressive ‘Make in India’ plan of domestic production with enhanced efficiency of solar cells and modules, Tata Power Solar, India’s largest integrated solar company, announced a significant expansion and modernisation of its world-class, cell and module manufacturing, facility in Bengaluru. The two-stage expansion doubled the company’s module capacity to 400 from 200 MW and increased its cell manufacturing capacity by 65 percent from 180 to 300 MW.

Nordex Achieves Leadership And 25% Market Share In Turkey

In 2016 Nordex consolidated its position as market leader in Turkey. With some 350 megawatts, the manufacturer accounted for a good 25% of the capacity installed in 2016. This means that Nordex remains the frontrunner in the market as a whole: with 1.5 GW the company has set up around one-quarter of the total installed capacity in Turkey amounting to 6.1 GW. The Group has now installed more than 21 GW of wind energy capacity in over 25 markets and in 2016 generated revenues of EUR 3.4 billion.

Edify Energy, Wirsol Complete Landmark Solar Farm Project Financing

Australian developer Edify Energy and German investor Wirsol have successfully completed Australia’s largest single solar project financing to build and operate 3 new large-scale solar farms: the Whitsunday and Hamilton Solar Farms in Queensland, and the Gannawarra Solar Farm in Victoria. When complete in Q1 2018, the Queensland and Victorian markets will benefit from an additional 198 MWp of renewable capacity, including the first large-scale farm in Victoria. Both companies are confident that investment in large-scale renewable energy will become more common place.

World Bank Approves $480m Guarantee As Argentina Drives Towards Clean Energy

The World Bank has approved a $480 million guarantee to stimulate investment in clean energy in Argentina. The Bank guarantee will support the Fund for the Development of Renewable Energy (FODER), which facilitates financing of projects under the RenovAr program of the country’s Ministry of Energy and Mining. This initiative seeks to stimulate power generation from wind, solar, biomass, biogas and small-scale hydro sources to achieve the country’s 20 percent renewable energy target by 2025.
