Invenergy to Sell 100MW of Wind Power to Equinix

Invenergy has secured a power-purchase agreement for 100 megawatts of wind capacity to be sold to Equinix.

Equinix, global interconnection and data centre company will use the power for all of its data centers across North America. The agreement includes the sale of wind energy from the Wake Wind project located in Texas. Invenergy will provide the equivalent of 457,000 MW hours of renewable energy annually generated in Texas and delivered into the Electric Reliability Council of Texas regional electricity grid.

Last week, Invenergy announced a 125MW PPA with Owens Corning to provide the insulation, roofing, and fiberglass manufacturer with wind power to support its corporate sustainability goals. Both of these agreements bring Invenergy’s total corporate customer wind portfolio to 225MW.

Earlier this year Equinix announced its commitment to 100% clean and renewable energy for its entire global footprint of 105 data centers located in 33 markets.
