Two Mitsubishi Corp. units, Mitsubishi Materials Corp. and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Co., will set up a 15-megawatt geothermal power plant in northern Japan’s Iwate prefecture.
The plant will be operated as a joint venture between the two companies. Media reports say the plant is expected to start operating in 2022. Mitsubishi Corp. last May announced that is partnering Kyushu Electric Power Co. to conduct surveys on geothermal power in Minamiaso Village, Kumamoto Prefecture in southwestern Japan.
