Senvion Starts Operating 350-MW Wind Project in Canada

Senvion has started commercial operation of the 350-megawatt Riviere-du-Moulin wind project in Quebec, Canada developed by EDF EN Canada.

The project comprises 175 sets of 2-MW Senvion MM92 and MM82 Cold Climate Version type turbines. Several of the turbines are equipped with Senvion de-icing technology, adapted for cold Canadian climate conditions. The wind farm is the biggest onshore contract in the history of Senvion and comes as part of the 1 gigawatt framework agreement Senvion signed with EDF EN Canada in 2009.

The project is located in the unorganized territory Lac Pikauba in the MRC de Charlevoix and the UT of Lac Ministuk in the MRC du Fjord du Saguenay. It is expected to produce enough electricity to power approximately 77,000 households with clean, renewable energy and will generate a significant amount of economic benefits for the surrounding communities.
