Siemens to Construct and Supply Turbines to Australian Wind Farm

Siemens has been awarded a contract to construct and supply wind turbines to a 100-megawartt wind project in Jamestown in the state of South Australia.

The project is developed by French renewable energy firm Neoen, international infrastructure investor John Laing and local partner Megawatt Capital Investments. Siemens will supply of 32 of its direct drive wind for the Hornsdale Wind Farm project located in the state of South Australia. The agreement includes also a long-term service contract.

The project will cost US$182 million, with construction to b gin immediately. The project is underpinned by a 20-year contract to supply green energy to the Australian Capital territories at a fixed price of US 6.7 cents per kilowatt hour.

Neoen has secured a long-term debt facility for the project from KFW IPEX- Bank GmbH and Societe Generale.
