Thailand Seeks to Double Clean Energy Production in Next Two Decades

Thailand will focus on solar, biomass and biogas projects to help meet a new target of doubling the country’s electricity that is sourced from clean energy sources in the next twenty years.

Energy Minister Narongchai Akrasanee said the country is now targeting up to 25% of renewable energy by 2035, compared to the 11% currently. Installed solar-power is targeted at 3,000 megawatts by 2035.

The country has approximately 3,780 megawatts of renewable energy capacity currently.
