First Phase of Vattenfall’s Scottish Wind Project Starts Operating

Sweden’s state-owned electricity generating company Vattenfall has started operating the first phase of an onshore wind farm Clashindarroch in Scotland.

Once fully commissioned, the 36.9-megawatt wind farm will be capable of meeting the electricity needs of  about 27,000 households.

The project in Aberdeenshire comprises 18 turbines supplied by Senvion.

The US$93-million Clashindarroch wind farm is Vattenfall’s second operating wind farm in Scotland. The company also operates onshore a 41.4-MW wind farm on the Isle of Skye.
