MHI Vestas Offshore Scoops Turbine Contract for Dong’s Walney Wind Farmt

MHI Vestas Offshore Wind has been awarded a contract by Dong Energy to supply turbines to its Walney Extension Offshore Wind Farm.

MHI Vestas Offshore Wind will supply its 8-megawatt turbine for the first phase of the project, which will have 330MW of capacity. The second phase will have a similar capacity. The project is located approximately 19 kilometres off the English east coast, next to the 367.2MW Walney Offshore Wind Farm.

Offshore construction of the wind farm could potentially is due to start in 2016. However, Dong Energy has not taken a final investment decision to build the offshore wind farm.

Dong Energy and MHI Vestas Offshore Wind already have an agreement for the supply of the same turbines to the Burbo Bank Extension offshore wind farm.
