sPower, Hecate Energy to Jointly Develop 162MW of Solar Projects

Renewable energy developer sPower has signed an agreement with Hecate Energy to jointly own and operate three solar projects with 162 megawatts of capacity.

Under the agreement, Hecate Energy will sell the Beacon 1, Beacon 3 and Beacon 4 projects near Mojave, California to sPower.  Hecate will design and build the plants, which will then be jointly owned and operated by the two companies.

The projects are expected to start operating by mid-2016. The projects have 25-year power purchase agreements with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, the largest municipal water and power utility in the nation.
