Japan Aims to Increase Renewable Energy Target to 50% by 2030

The Japanese government is planning to set a target of having 50% of the country’s’ electricity supply come from renewable energy sources.

The plan includes increasing the ratio of renewable energy resources to nuclear power, according to a report in the Yomiuri Shimbun.  The government has approved a US$1.1 billion budget for 2015 to fund a number of renewable energy programs that promote renewable energy.
