Alstom has been awarded a contract by PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy2 to supply and install a 30-megawatt geothermal plant for the Karaha Power Plant in West Java, Indonesia.
Under the EUR61 million (US$69 million) contract, Alstom will design, supply, install and commission the entire power plant by the end of 2016.
The Karaha Bodas plant has a long chequered history. It was originally jointly developed by Pertamina, state power company PLN and the US-based Karaha Bodas Co., before being postponed during the 1997 Asian financial crisis.
