Dong Energy Starts Operating First Turbine of German Offshore Wind Farm

Dong Energy and its project partners have started operating the first turbine at the Borkum Riffgrund 1 offshore wind farm In Germany, and fed the power to the grid.

Borkum Riffgrund 1 is a joint venture project between Dong Energy which owns 50% of the project, and Kirkbi and William Demant Invest which hold the rest. The project will have a total of 78 turbines, which are all expected to start operating this year. Once complete, the wind farm will have 312 megawatts of capacity.

Borkum Riffgrund 1 is located 37 kilometres off the island Borkum. The wind farm will be operated form Dong Energy’s harbour facility in Norden-Norddeich.
