EDF Energies Nouvelles has been awarded the right to develop the 224.4-megawatt Nicolas-Riou wind farm project in Quebec under a tender launched by Hydro-Quebec Distribution.
EDF’s subsidiary EDF EN Canada which was awarded the contract has also signed a 25-year power-purchase agreement with Hydro-Quebec The Nicolas-Riou wind farm project is located in the Basque and Rimouski-Neigette Regional County Municipalities RCMs of south-eastern Quebec.
Construction is due to begin in spring 2016 with commissioning expected by year-end 2017. The project is 50% owned by EDF EN Canada; 33% by Energie Eolienne Bas-St-Laurent and 17% by the Regie intermunicipale de l’energie Gaspesie-Iles-de-la-Madeleine.
