Philippine-based renewable developer Cleangreen Energy Corp. has won government approval to develop a 12-megawatt biomass project in Bataan.
The Department of Energy approved the project, construction of which is expected to start this yea, with completion expected in 2017. The developer plans to double the capacity eventually.
The plant would be located on a six-hectare property in Bagac and will use napier grass as the main feedstock. The grass will be supplied by an associated company.
