Clariant Completes Sale of Energy Storage Unit to Matthey for US$75 Million

Speciality chemicals producer Clariant has completed the US$75 million sale of its energy storage business to Johnson Matthey Plc .

The deal was originally agreed to in October 2014. The energy storage unit is a producer of hydrothermal lithium iron phosphate that is used in electric vehicles and stationary battery applications. The business generated about US$17 million in sales in 2013, according to Clariant.
