UK-based water supplier Severn Trent will invest £190 million (US$279 million) through to 2020 in solar and anaerobic digestion power plants to increase its renewable energy generation portfolio.
The company is targeting that its energy generation from renewable sources will hit 50% by 2020from 28%.“This will provide efficient green energy and a long-term hedge against volatile market prices,” the company said in a statement.
Severn Trent’s energy portfolio includes wind, solar, hydropower plants and waste-to-energy plants across the UK.
