Enel Green Keeps Oklahoma Focus with Start of Construction of 74-MW Wind Farm

Enel Green Power has started construction on a 74-megawatt wind farm in Oklahoma, the state which has been the focus of company’s development strategy.

Enel is investing US$130 million into the Little Elk wind project, located in Kiowa and Washita Counties. Once fully operational, the wind farm will be able to generate up to 330 gigawatt hours of power annually, equivalent to the energy consumption needs of over 27,000 households.

The wind farm is due to start operating at the end of 2015, with power to be sold to the People’s Electric Cooperative of Oklahoma for a 25-year period.

Enel has three operating wind farms in Oklahoma that have a total installed capacity of 534MW, including the 150-MW Rocky Ridge project that is located adjacent to the site of Little Elk. The company is also constructing a further 350MW of wind capacity in the state, including the 200MW Goodwell wind project.
