Gamesa Sets Up Sri Lankan Office on Expected Growth in Wind Market

Gamesa has set up presence in Sri Lanka by opening an office to carry out project work and maintain turbines installed locally.

Gamesa has an installed capacity of 45.3 megawatts in Sri Lanka. The company said it expects the South Asian nation’s installed wind capacity to increase to 200MW by 2017, driven by an energy policy that supports renewable sources of energy with the aim of reducing the nation’s dependence on fossil fuels and cater to burgeoning energy needs.
