Vestas to Supply Turbines to 149-M Wind Farm in Mexico

Vestas has won an order to supply its wind turbines to the 149-megawatt Tres Mesas wind farm in Mexico developed by Oak Creek Energy Systems Inc.

The contract comprises supply, installation and commissioning of 45 sets of its 3.3-MW turbines and a 10-year full-scope service agreement. Wind turbine delivery is expected during the first quarter of 2016.

The projects are financed through loan agreements with Overseas Private Investment Corp., the US Development Finance Institution and North American Development Bank. Power from the project will be sold to Sigma Alimentos and Walmart de Mexico.

Tres Mesas will be one of the largest renewable energy projects in the country and the largest wind farm in Tamaulipas. The region offers good wind resources and transmission line availability.
