India’s Suzlon Group has commissioned a 100-megawatt wind power project for CLP India in the state of Rajasthan.
The project will provide electricity to over 50,000 homes. Suzlon will also offer operations and maintenance for a 20-year period.
The project, located at Tejuva in Jaisalmer, comprises 48 sets of 2.1-megawatt turbines manufactured and supplied by Suzlon.
“Wind energy is an integral part of CLP India’s business strategy and is expected to continue making a vital contribution not only to CLP’s growth plans for India but also to its commitment to reducing its CO2 emissions,” said Mahesh Makhija, Director of Business Development (Renewables) for CLP India.
CLP India is the wholly owned subsidiary of Hong-based CLP Holdings Ltd. It is one of the largest foreign investors in the Indian power sector including renewable energy, supercritical coal and gas fired power plants, amounting to over 3,000MW.
The successful commissioning of this project is yet another feather in a cap and we are indeed proud to be associated with CLP India,” said Ishwar Mangal, Chief Sales Officer, Suzlon Group. This success demonstrates our strength in being the partner of choice for leading Independent Power Producers.
Given the positive change in the Indian renewable energy landscape, our focus this year is to cater to Indian market and enhance our market share. Suzlon endeavours to bring down the cost of energy and provide clean and affordable energy for all.”
