Egypt Issues Tender for 200-MW Solar Power Project

The Egyptian Ministry of Electricity has released a tender for a 200-megawatt solar project to be set up on a build-own-operate basis.

Proponents must have experience in establishing at least three solar power plants of a minimum capacity of 50MW. Technical and financial offers and proposals will be presented on 2 November.

Amongts companies that are said to have picked up tender documents include Enel Energy, ACWA SunEdison, First Solar, Terra Sola, Sun Power and Scatec Solar.

The ministry will shortlist 15 developers who will then conduct topographical and technical studies for the project and submi the financial and technical proposal .

Egypt is targeting 20% of all its energy requirements to come from renewable sources by 2020.
