DTE Energy Services to Close 40-MW Biomass Plant

DTE Energy Services will close its 40-megawatt .J. Stoneman Electrical Station biomass power plant at Cassville, Wisconsin as it is no longer economically viable to run it.

Company subsidiary DTE Stoneman LLC and Dairyland Power Corp. have mutually agreed to terminate their power purchase agreement for entire output of the project.

DTE acquired the coal-fired project from Dairyland in 2008 and converted it into a biomass plant fed by wood waste fuel the plant. DTE is hoping to sell the plant.
