Engie Consolidates Solar Energy Leadership In France; Wins 78 MW Of PV Projects

ENGIE, through its subsidiaries ENGIE Green, La Compagnie du Vent, CNR and Solairedirect, has won bidding organised by the French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) for 10 photovoltaic projects representing 78 MW of installed capacity. With these additional projects, ENGIE is consolidating its leading position in photovoltaics in France with, at the end of 2016, an installed or construction capacity of 522 MW. According to the company, the selected projects have all been developed in consultation with local stakeholders and will make a priority use of local providers. As France prepares to triple its solar capacity by 2023, Engie wants to improve its market share with a target of reaching 2.2 GW by 2021. At the end of 2016, Engie had 522 MW solar power installed or under construction in the country.

Canadian Solar Secures PPAs With SECI For 80 MWac Solar Power Projects In India

The company has finalised power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for 80 MW of solar PV capacity awarded to the company under the recent 450 MW Maharashtra tender. Maharashtra is India’s second-most-populous state and a growing solar power. This underscores the trend of significant organisations in the solar sector securing their positioning in India. The country is set to surpass Japan as the world’s third-highest growth solar market in 2017, with most analysts expecting the country to add at least 8 GW of new solar capacity this year.

JinkoSolar, Marubeni Enter Into PPA for Abu Dhabi 1,177MW Solar PV Mega Project

JinkoSolar and Marubeni Corporation have entered into a PPA with the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Company ADWEC for the huge solar PV project located at Sweihan, Abu Dhabi, UAE. A special purpose company jointly owned will construct, operate and maintain the PV plant for the duration of the 25-year PPA. The project will be located in the Eastern Region of Abu Dhabi, in Sweihan and will have the capacity of 1,177 MW (DC). The Project’s financial agreements are expected to close in April 2017 with commercial operation expected to begin in 2019.

SolarAfrica Delivers East Africa’s Largest Industrial Solar System

SolarAfrica has announced the official handover of the 991 kWp PV hybrid system developed for Kenya’s largest, most progressive salt producer, Krystalline Salt Limited. The bespoke solar solution will generate approximately 1.6 gigawatt-hours of electricity per year, saving Krystalline around 22% of their electricity costs. The system will operate in Malindi, Kenya. The company partnered with SMA Sunbelt and Kenyan based installation partners, Harmonic Systems to construct and execute the project efficiently and to the highest industry standard, resulting in the project being completed two months ahead of schedule.

Tata Capacity Exceeds 10.5 GW, As 15 MW Telangana Solar Plant Begins Operations

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd, India’s largest renewable energy company has announced the start of commercial operations at its 15 MW solar plant in Telangana. The solar plant has been built over 80 acres of land and includes an 18 km transmission line. Sale of power from the plant has been tied up under a 25 year Power Purchase Agreement at a tariff of Rs. 5.72. DEWA To Build 97 New Substations To Meet Future Energy Demand

DEWA plans to build 97 new 132/11 kilovolt (kV) substations over the next three years, at a projected cost of AED 10 billion, supporting the directives of its leadership and showing DEWA’s commitment to meeting growing demand for energy in Dubai. Vestas Reclaims Top Spot In Ranking Of Wind Turbine Makers – Big Four Emerging

Vestas reclaimed top spot in the annual ranking of wind turbine manufacturers, according to figures compiled by Bloomberg New Energy Finance. Some 8.7GW of Vestas turbines were installed in 2016, 16% of all onshore wind installations last year. Vestas returns to the top spot thanks to a strong push in the US. The Danish manufacturer continues to pursue a global strategy with projects in 35 countries, more than any other turbine maker. GE placed second with 6.5GW, some 0.6GW more than in 2015. Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology fell from first to third place with 6.4GW in 2016.

Renovate America Closes $200 Million Credit Facility, Continuing HERO Expansion

Renovate America, a leading U.S. provider of home-improvement financing, announced today that it has closed a $200 million credit facility with Bank of America N.A. to support the continued expansion of the HERO Program, the nation’s largest form of Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing. Since launching just over five years ago, the HERO program has been used to finance energy and efficiency improvements across 90,000 homes. The credit facility will provide Renovate America with enhanced liquidity and will further diversify the company’s funding profile. It now has five warehouse lenders in aggregate, up from three last year.
