TELE-FONIKA Kable Acquires JDR, Strengths Position In Offshore, Subsea Sectors

JDR Cable Systems (Holdings) Ltd., a leading supplier of subsea umbilicals and power cables to the offshore energy industry, has announced that it is to be acquired by TELE-FONIKA Kable. TFKable is a leading global producer of wires and cables. Both companies have a long history of collaboration, with TFKable being JDR’s important business partner providing water blocked power cores for its cable and umbilical systems. JDR’s subsea systems, used in the global offshore oil, gas and renewable industries, allow its customers to power and control their offshore operations, and will enhance the range of cable solutions TFKable can provide to its customers.

New BNEF Report Highlights A Massive Shift to Wind And Solar, While Coal Fades

A new independent report from Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) states that clean energy such as wind and solar will account for almost 75% of investment in power generation worldwide, between now and 2014. New Energy Outlook 2017 estimates that overall $10.2 trillion will be spent on power generation technology in the next 22 years, with $7.4 trillion being spent on renewables. This year’s forecast sees solar energy costs dropping a further 66% by 2040, and onshore wind by 47%, with renewables undercutting the majority of existing fossil power stations by 2030.

Energy-Saving HERO Financing Available To 129,000 More Homes In Missouri

HERO’s latest expansion is expected to spread these economic benefits to the new communities where it will operate. It’s estimated that HERO-financed home improvement activity has resulted in the creation of over 80 new Missouri jobs and over $17 million in economic activity. Many of these new construction-sector jobs can’t be outsourced or automated. In addition to residential PACE activity, MCED also has a pipeline of over $10 million for PACE-financed projects for commercial properties.

NRG Systems And RK Systems To Commission India’s Tallest Lattice Met Tower

RK Systems created the 150m tower for one of India’s leading clean energy Independent Power Producers. The decision to commission the tower was spurred by the growing proliferation of taller turbines. The company overcame a number of design challenges to erect the 150m tower. To keep the tower stable, secure, and under the 250kg weight limit, a design was introduced, that used square tubes – a first in India. According to Arun Mehra, Director of RK Systems, “In response to the increase in hub heights, and in order to perform accurate resource assessment campaigns that reduce uncertainty, it has become necessary to capture data at these heights.”

Vestas Seals Massive 557 MW Fleet-Wide Service Deal in Australia with Infigen

Infigen Energy and Vestas have signed fleet-wide long-term service agreements for 557 MW of Vestas and Suzlon turbines. With the deal, Vestas will provide maintenance to Infigen’s entire operating fleet until the end of their design life, including all their Suzlon turbines.
The agreements are effective from 1 January 2018 for a period of between 7 and 15 years, depending on the wind park. “Vestas has a proven track record, developed over many years, for delivering high-quality service and optimal asset performance”, said Ross Rolfe, Infigen’s Managing Director.

Next Generation Of Methanol Fuel Cell Vehicles See The Light Of Day

With the aim to develop a cost efficient and environmentally friendly vehicle, the Danish methanol fuel cell manufacturer SerEnergy is now launching a commercial reformed methanol fuel cell vehicle with a driving range up to 800 km on a tank of methanol. The engineers and mechanics at SerEnergy’s mobility development centre, located in Aalborg, Denmark, has developed a reformed methanol fuel cell (RMFC) vehicle based on the Nissan e-NV200 electric car platform, a car that is being sold in large numbers worldwide.

Indian Firm Wins 1.8GW Sweihan Order; The Largest Solar PV Project In The World

Indian company Sterling and Wilson has won the contract for the world’s largest single location solar PV project. The Sweihan project in Abu Dhabi is for turnkey EPC as well as O&M; and is jointly developed by Japanese investment firm Marubeni, Chinese solar company Jinko Solar, and Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA). It will deliver a capacity of 1177 MWp, surpassing the current largest 850 MWp single location plant in China. In March 2017, Marubeni and Jinko had signed a 25-year PPA with ADWEA on a tariff of $0.0242/kWh, making Sweihan also the plant with the lowest electricity price so far.

SolarEdge Launches Fastest EV Charging Technology; Combining Grid With PV Power

By supplementing grid power with PV power, the new Level 2 EV charger offers charging up to six times faster than a standard Level 1 charger with its innovative solar boost mode. The company’s HD-Wave inverter, once integrated with an EV charger, will not only provide the existing management and monitoring of solar production, but will also enable EV charging from a single inverter and dashboard. Solar Power Exceeds Wind Installations; Can Surpass 80GW In 2017, 1TW In 2021

SolarPower Europe (SPE) has launched the ‘Global Market Outlook for Solar Power 2017-2021.’ The report confirms 2016 as another record year for solar, with global annual additions for solar growing by 50% with 76.6 GW installed. There’s now a total worldwide solar power generation capacity of 306.5 GW. James Watson, CEO of SPE said: “When looking at solar, the cost reductions experienced and predicted outstrip all other power generation technologies. Today, utility-scale solar is already cheaper than new gas, coal and nuclear power plants.”
