Gamesa Consolidates In India, Boosted By 304 MW At Five More Wind Farm Projects

Gamesa continues to make further inroads into the Indian market. It has been present in India, where it has installed over 3,000 MW, since 2009. According to MAKE Consultancy, it is the leading OEM in India, with a market share of 34% in 2015 (up from 25% in 2014), having dominated this market for three years in a row. Gamesa’s key position in the Indian market is a significant attractor for Siemens, which has agreed in June, this year, to merge its wind business with its Spain-based rival; and according to Gamesa, Make is anticipating India’s wind market to add 30GW by 2025.

Vattenfall Wins 600MW Offshore Project For The Largest Wind Farm In The Nordics

Vattenfall has won the tender to build Kriegers Flak, a 600 MW offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea. The winning bid was €49.9 per MW, which is among the lowest costs in the world for offshore wind power. It will be Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm; supplying 23% of all households in Denmark, 600,000 in total, with clean energy. Vattenfall’s investment will be €1.1–1.3Bn, pending a final decision. Kriegers Flak is part of Denmark’s 2012 agreement to become a green and resource efficient economy entirely independent of fossil fuels by 2050.

NextEra Energy And TVA Commission 75MW Solar Energy Project. Largest In Alabama

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and NextEra Energy Resources have joined local leaders to celebrate the commissioning of Alabama’s largest solar energy project. The River Bend Solar Energy Center features more than 300,000 solar panels with trackers that follow the sun from east to west each day to maximise energy production. Together, they generate 75MW, or enough to power more than 15,000 homes. The energy will serve TVA consumers starting this year, under a 20-year power purchase agreement.

Canadian Solar Supplies 18,500 Panels For Large US Agricultural Installations

Canadian Solar has announced that it has supplied 5.74 MW of its MaxPower CS6X310P modules to two projects located in Fowler, California. The first installation; the 2.49 MW Bee Sweet Citrus Farm, consists of 8,034 panels. The second installation; the 3.25 MW National Raisin Company Farm, consists of approximately 10,509 panels, making this array one of the largest agricultural solar systems in the USA. In total, the cumulative amount of electricity produced from these two installations is equivalent to powering 564 homes for one year.

Gamesa Inks 95MW Deal To Supply Custom-Designed Wind Turbines In China

Gamesa continues to grow in China, having signed new agreements for the supply of 95 MW. These turbines are custom-designed to withstand the extreme winds typical of this coastal area which is often hit by typhoons. With the introduction of its new G114-2.5 MW wind turbines into China, Gamesa has now achieved a new product strategy milestone. The company will supply 38 (95 MW) of these turbines to state-owned developer Zhognmin at two wind complexes. These are due for delivery during the second quarter of 2017 and the project is commissioned by the first quarter of 2018.

Nordex Wins 111MW Wind Turbines Order For Projects In Turkey

The Nordex Group is strengthening its position in Turkey: the manufacturer recently received 3 new orders from its customer, Eksim Yatirim. Nordex is to install a total of 37 N117/3000 wind turbines for Eksim. The wind market in Turkey has expanded greatly in the past 10 years, from 150MW to more than 5GW in installed capacity. Since entering the market in 2007 Nordex has installed a good 1.3GW in Turkey, making it the market leader according to the latest report by the Turkish Wind Energy Association.

Vestas Receives Another Order For Wind Turbines Using De-Icing Technology

Swedish company OX2 has placed another order for 41 V126-3.45 MW turbines with power optimised mode to 3.6 MW and Vestas’ de-icing technology for their largest wind power project to date. This is the third time OX2 has placed an order for Vestas turbines in 2016, reinforcing the two companies’ strong collaboration and market position in the Nordic region. Delivery of the wind turbines is expected to begin in the Q2, 2018 and the order includes supply, installation, and commissioning of the turbines as well as a 15-year Active Output Management service agreement.

Dominion Acquires 60MW Solar Farm And Announces Multiple Solar Electric PPAs

As part of its long-term plan to bring online at least 500MW of solar electric generating capacity in North Carolina (N.C.) and Virginia, Dominion has announced it has acquired the development rights for the 60MW (AC) Summit Farms Solar facility in Currituck County, N.C. The solar facility is expected to enter service in December 2016. It has also signed 25-year power purchase agreements with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston Medical Center and Post Office Square Redevelopment Corporation.

200 MW Tranquillity Solar Power Project Commences Operations In California

The huge 200 MW Tranquillity solar power plant has commenced operation in California, the US State that’s leading the way in PV deployment. Built on a huge 1,900 acres expanse of retired agricultural land in Fresno County; the project is a rare development of such size, as the market shifts towards smaller-scale solar PV plant developments. Canadian Solar’s subsidiary Recurrent Energy developed the project from start to finish, with construction beginning in July 2015 and taking only just over a year to complete.
