E.ON, CLEVER Create Ultra Fast Charging On Electric Highway From Norway To Italy

Sensing the global shift towards electric vehicles, over the next three years, E.ON and CLEVER will establish a network of 180 ultra-fast charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) in seven countries connecting Norway to Italy. The network is appointed as an EU flagship project and has received €10 million in funding from the European Commission. The 180 stations will be spread across seven countries. The majority of the locations will be built in Germany, followed by France, Norway, Sweden, UK, Italy and Denmark. Each of the stations will provide 2-6 charging points and will be rolled out in Europe during the next three years with the first sites being located in Germany and Denmark.

Grids Integration, Energy Networks Boosted By Distributed Generation Growth

Renewable energy has continued to develop at ever increasing rates, with remarkable growth seen since the start of this decade. The pace of the energy transition is driving innovation and growth in related sectors. For energy networks and grids integrating small gas turbines, micro-turbines, fuel cells, biomass, small hydropower, wind and solar energy; distributed generation installation provides significant solutions in the restructured electricity regime. This is particularly so, where there is a larger uncertainty in demand and supply.

Methanol ‘Green’ Fuel Cell Has Potential To Transform Large Scale Transport

Earlier this week, the MS innogy commenced operations for green tours on the beautiful Lake Baldeneysee. The passenger vessel, is the first in Germany to be powered by methanol fuel cells, is a part of innogy’s “greenfuel” project where they demonstrate the entire value chain of environmentally friendly methanol, from a green production of methanol using CO2 from the surrounding air, green electricity, and water, to the use of methanol as a fuel in the excursion vessel and in cars, ships, and aircraft. The demonstration took place in Essen – this year’s “Green Capital of Europe” and went hand in hand with the ambitious transition the city is undergoing in reinventing itself as a “Green City”.

Wind Power Can Provide Energy On Coldest Days: Met Office, Imperial College

A new study by climate scientists has advanced the understanding of the potential for wind power to provide energy during the coldest spells of winter weather. The team, which involved scientists from the Met Office Hadley Centre, Imperial College London and the University of Reading, compared wind power availability with electricity demand in winter and they found an interesting result. The team found that during the highest 5% of energy demand days, one-third produce more wind power than the winter average. “The very coldest days are associated with a mix of different weather patterns, some of which produce high winds in parts of the UK.
