Trina’s Solar Revolution: DUOMAX Twin Packs 25% Additional Generating Capacity

Trina Solar has announced the launch of its high-efficiency bifacial module DUOMAX Twin, which generates power from both the front and back sides of the solar module and performs well even under weak light conditions. The front side receives direct sunlight while the back side receives reflected and scattered light. Compared with traditional single-sided modules, the DUOMAX Twin can deliver as much as 25% additional generating capacity. The company’s leadership in PERC cell technology has achieved several world records and total shipments of over 1 Gigawatt over the past years.

Nordex Powers Ahead To Increase Yields From Existing Wind Farm Infrastructures

The Nordex Group has received an order to raise the yield of a total of 63 existing multi-megawatt turbines from its customer ERG SpA in Italy. The operator plans to equip three wind farms with the performance-enhancing “Xtended Power” technology. In principle, an increase in yield of up to two percent can be obtained using this product package.

Tata Ramps Up Manufacturing Capabilities To Meet Increased Demand For Modules

Keeping up with Government of India’s progressive ‘Make in India’ plan of domestic production with enhanced efficiency of solar cells and modules, Tata Power Solar, India’s largest integrated solar company, announced a significant expansion and modernisation of its world-class, cell and module manufacturing, facility in Bengaluru. The two-stage expansion doubled the company’s module capacity to 400 from 200 MW and increased its cell manufacturing capacity by 65 percent from 180 to 300 MW.

Energy Department Announces up to $30 Million for Grid Integration Projects

The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) SunShot Initiative announced up to $30 million in new projects to support the integration of solar energy into the nation’s electric grid while diversifying the nation’s electricity sources and improving the reliability and security of the electric grid. SunShot will fund 13 projects with a total of up to $30 million to develop next-generation grid planning and operation tools that help to integrate more solar power with the grid.

US: Smart Electricity And Grid Join Forces With SEPA, SGIP Merger Announcement

The merger provides a single source for information and collaboration for utilities and distributed energy resources (DER) providers on the smart transition to clean energy. Julia Hamm, CEO and President of the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA), and Sharon Allan, CEO and President of SGIP, announced the intent to merge the two organisations under the SEPA brand, stating that given the increasing integration of DER and grid modernization, a merger of SGIP and SEPA makes sense. Hamm said. “Moreover, the combination of resources and expertise will accelerate grid modernization efforts and have an even greater impact on the industry.”

DOE Announces $19.7m to Accelerate Energy-Efficient Transportation and Systems
