Vattenfall has acquired a wind development project consisting of up to 79 turbines in the German North Sea. The acquisition is in line with Vattenfall’s growth strategy to extensively expand its renewable energy production in the coming years. “The acquisition underlines once more that our growth ambitions in wind are under full steam. Vestas Wins 278MW Wind Turbines Order From E.ON, USA

Vestas has received a firm and unconditional order from E.ON for 139 V110-2.0 MW wind turbines. The order includes supply and commissioning of the wind turbines as well as a multi-year service agreement. “We are excited to be working with Vestas on this turbine purchase as E. ON expands its U.S. portfolio,” said Patrick Woodson, Chairman of E.ON North America. Nacelles, blades, and towers will be produced at Vestas’ Colorado factories with delivery expected to begin in the second quarter of 2017 and commissioning planned for the fourth quarter of 2017.

India Powers On; First Solar Connects 130MW Utility-Scale Solar Power To Grid

First Solar has announced the connection of 130MW utility-scale solar power to the Indian grid. The 130 MWAC plants collectively will produce enough energy to power 227,500 average homes in India, and will displace over 204,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year. The project is powered by more than 1.4 million First Solar modules, offering highly predictable energy in all climates and applications. The modules have been independently tested to pass accelerated life and stress tests beyond industry standards.

New $1Bn Wind Project: Part Of Alliant Energy’s Vision For Clean Energy In Iowa

Iowans will soon see a significant increase in clean, economical wind generation from Alliant Energy. Alliant Energy CEO Patricia Kampling and Gov. Terry Branstad announced the utility will invest approximately $1 billion to expand its wind energy operations in the state. In the 25 year period to 2030, Alliant Energy is targeting a 40% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. EON Advances Grid Stability With 10MW TEP Energy Storage Agreement

E.ON Climate & Renewables North America today announced it signed an agreement with Tucson Electric Power (TEP) to provide frequency response and voltage control from a grid-scale, 10(MW) battery energy storage facility with a 2 MW solar array. SPI Energy From China, Completes And Grid Enables 2.4MW PV Plant in Japan

Located 50km north of Tokyo, the utility-scale Nishiura PV plant covers a total land area of 26,562 square meters and will produce around 3 million kWh of solar electricity per year. The power generated by the 2.4 MW solar park will be sold to a Japanese company under a 20-year power purchase agreement for 831.6 million yen, under which the project will receive 32 yen/kWh of electricity produced under Japan’s feed-in tariff (FIT). SPI Japan owns 100% of the project and will oversee all operations and maintenance requirements of the plant over the course of its lifetime.

Colbún, Total And SunPower Agreement Highlights Clean Energy Growth In Chile

Colbún S.A. recently announced the award of 15-year power purchase agreement to Total and SunPower for 500-gigawatt hours (GWh) of photovoltaic solar energy per year and the construction of a 164MW solar power plant. The award was selected from 13 competitive tender bids and submission of more than 20 power purchase agreement alternatives. Colbún is the second largest energy generation company in Chile and owns 23 power stations in its Central Interconnected System (SIC) and one in Peru (SEIN, through which it delivers 3,852MW of the installed capacity.
