Google to Buy Stake in Vestas’ 310-MW Kenyan Wind Farm

Google will acquire Vestas’ 12.5% stake in Africa’s largest wind farm, the 310-megawatt Lake Turkana in Kenya.
The Lake Turkana wind park is expected to be one of the most efficient wind parks in the world, and have an annual power production of more than 1,400 GWh, which will provide around 15% of Kenya’s electricity needs based on current generation capacity. The wind park is owned by Lake Turkana Wind Power and is key to Kenya’s development goals.

Ecotricity to Raise US$38 Million From Bonds for Solar, Wind Projects

UK green energy company Ecotricity has launched a third bond as it looks to raise up to £25 million (US$ 38 million)to assist in building more green energy projects in Britain.
Funds from the ecobonds one and two helped finance the building of a hybrid solar energy park and four wind power projects totalling nearly 20MW of capacity. ecobond three will offer investors a return of 5.5% per annum and help finance six new green energy projects already in the first stages of construction – projects that could generate enough green energy to power over 10,000 homes.

Enel Forms JV With F2i SGR for Italian Solar Projects

Enel Green Power and F2i SGR have formed an equally-owned joint venture for solar projects in Italy.
Under the agreement, EGP will form a new company, to which it will contribute, through its subsidiary Altomonte, 105 megawatt of PV assets. F2i will in turn contribute an additional 105MW of PV assets currently held by F2i Solare 1 S.r.l. and F2i Solare 3, subsidiaries of F2i Energie Rinnovabili.

Impax Sells 206MW of Wind Assets to ERG REnew

Impax Asset Management’s fund has signed an agreement to sell its 206-megawatt portfolio of wind projects to ERG Renew, the renewable energy subsidiary of the Italian multi-energy company ERG Group.
Financial details of the deal, scheduled to close by the end of this year, were not disclosed.
The sale is part of Impax’s planned realisation of the operating assets in accordance with its fund’s strategy. Impax has grown the portfolio by acquisitions from 2010 to 2014. The majority of the projects were constructed under the ownership of the fund. The fund continues to own a wind project development business in France which it aims to expand significantly through construction and acquisition in the coming years.

Enviro Mission Targets Middle East for Solar Towers in JV Deal

EnviroMission has signed an agreement with Q Analytica to form a joint venture that will operate to commercialise EnviroMission’s Solar Tower renewable energy technology in the Middle East and North Africa region.
The JV will provide EnviroMission with active involvement in Solar Tower development in the region and earn for EnviroMission a capital injection of US$1.5 million from the placement of EnviroMission shares with QA, a US$3 million development rights licence fee, an annual royalty and technology fee, and equity in all entities formed by QA for Solar Tower development under the licenced development rights.

Talen Energy Inks Deal to Sell Two Hydro Plants for US$860 Million

US-based Talen Energy Corp. has signed an agreement to sell two hydroelectric power plants with 299 megawatts of combined capacity to Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners for US$860 million.

The Holtwood and Lake Wallenpaupack hydroelectric projects are part of a requirement to divest certain assets in specific regions of the PJM Interconnection, which include portions of eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland, to comply with a December 2014 Federal Energy Regulatory Commission order approving the transactions that formed Talen Energy.

Gamesa Bags Wind-Turbine Contracts for Projects in India, Brazil

Gamesa has secured separate contracts to supply 108 megawatts of its turbines to wind farms in India and Brazil.
he company will build a 40-MW turnkey wind farm in India for ReNew Power. It will install 20 of its 2-megawatt turbines at the Lingsagur wind farm, located in the province of Karnataka. With a tower height of 104 metres, the new turbine variant -certified by TÜV NORD- is custom-designed for the low wind speed sites typical of India.

Canadian Solar Completes Purchase of Three Solar Farms From KKR

Canadian Solar Inc. has closed on the acquisition of three operating solar projects totalling 59.8 megawatts of capacity from KKR for US$203.7 million.
The company also closed a US$50 million loan with Credit Suisse that is related to the purchase . Credit Suisse also acted as sole financial advisor on the transaction.
