Google Signs Deal to Buy Power from NextEra’s 43-MW Wind Farm

Google Inc. has signed a long-term agreement to purchase power from a 43-megawatt wind farm in California developed by NextEra Energy Resources.

The power will offset the electrical consumption of Google’s North Bayshore headquarters on an annual basis. The agreement will lead to a change in the turbines at the Bay Area wind farm at Altamont Pass. 24 new turbines will replace the 370 existing ones in 2016.

The new turbines will generate energy that feeds into the grid that powers Google’s North Bayshore buildings in Mountain View.
