SunEdison Inc. has completed two solar projects in Ontario that have a combined capacity of 35.7-megawatts.
The projects are the 17.8-MW Solar Spirit and 17.9-MW Bruining solar farms. Both projects will supply electricity to the Independent Electricity System Operator through a 20-year feed-in-tariff agreement. This is enough electricity to power more than 4,000 homes for 20 years, and is the equivalent of removing over 8,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere annually.
The Solar Spirit solar power plant was purchased by BluEarth Renewables, and the Bruining solar power plant was purchased by Firelight Infrastructure Partners. Operation and maintenance of the plants will be performed by SunEdison Services.
