The International Energy Agency (IEA) shared that energy generation from renewable energy sources grew by 16% across the 34 nations of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in 2015. A 1% decrease in combustible fuels was also noticed; such as coal, gas, and oil, as well as combustible renewables and waste energy sources.

Siemens And Pattern Combine For Major Wind Power Plant In New Mexico And Texas

Siemens (Wind Power and Renewables Division) has agreed with Pattern Energy Group LP to deliver, install and service a total of 141 wind turbines for the Broadview Wind project. The project combines two adjacent projects in New Mexico and Texas with a total installed capacity of 324 megawatts (MW). Siemens Financial Services Division will provide loans for the project totalling nearly $100m. The project is expected to supply about 180,000 average U.S. homes and Siemens is expected to commence installation this month.

Saudi Arabia, Vision 2030 – Setting a Target Of 9.5GW Of Wind And Solar Energy

The launch of the King Salman Renewable Energy Initiative and “initial” renewable energy target of 9.5GW, announced in the “Saudi Arabia Vision 2030” paper recently, is the highest level of commitment to renewable energy, ever made by the Kingdom. The main target is to “create a more diverse and sustainable economy”, co-financed by the country’s $2 trillion Sovereign Fund.

Facebook, Google Lead Initiative To Add 60GW Of Clean Energy To US Grid By 2025

Microsoft, Facebook, and Google/Alphabet, along with power group Invenergy, GM, Honda, and Amazon, are among the 60 companies backing a group which aims to add 60GW of clean energy and renewable power capacity to the US grid by 2025. Four non-governmental organisations have come together to form the Renewable Energy Buyers Alliance (REBA), a new coalition to inspire and empower multinational companies to transform electricity systems with clean and renewable energy.

Strong Growth For Solar PV In Turkey Expected In 2016 and 2017

In 2016 and 2017, an increased number of large-scale projects with more than one MW capacity are expected to receive approval. The first installment for the licensed large-scale plants is 600 MW. American company, First Solar; the world’s leading plant engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor has now secured interconnection rights for three planned PV plants in southern Turkey, powering 14,000 homes upon completion.

Cerberus Increases Renewable Energy Investments With 650MW Renovalia Acquisition

Cerberus has completed the acquisition of Spanish renewable energy company Renovalia Energy S.A. from affiliates of the Ortega Family and IDM Ortemar. This transaction gives Cerberus 100% control of Renovalia. Renovalia operates in six countries and has more than 650 megawatts of power generation under management along with a global development pipeline of wind farms and solar PV plants. The acquisition adds further clean energy assets to the total of US $28 billion currently under management.

FERC Awards Licences to FFP New Hydro for $100m Muskingum River Projects

The four projects have a combined generating capacity of 15MW. FFP New Hydro also has final license applications pending for two more projects on the Muskingum River. The projects represent an investment of more than $100 million and each project will create 100 to 150 jobs during construction as well as continued service employment during operations. Clean, reliable electricity from the projects will power over 7,500 homes and businesses as a long term resource for the region.
