Aquila Capital Expands Norwegian Hydroelectric Footprint

Aquila Capital has won the bid to acquire Smakraft AS, the largest operator and developer of small-scale hydropower plants in Norway.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition will be the third public hydro transaction for Aquila Capital in 18 months and will further expand the firm’s footprint in the hydropower sector.

Enbridge Pays US$564 Million to Buy Stake in 400-MW Offshore Wind Farm

Enbridge Inc. has acquired a 24.9%stake in the 400-megawatt Rampion offshore wind project in the UK for £370 million (US$564 million).
The amount includes all interest during construction, transaction costs and a development fee. The project was developed and is being constructed by E.ON Climate & Renewables UK, a subsidiary of E.ON SE.

EBRD Sets Up US$250 Million Fund for Southern and Eastern Mediterranean Region

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has started a US$ 250million financing program for private sector renewable energy generation in Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia and Jordan.
The financing framework envisages up to US$250 million in debt and equity funding for private companies in the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean region to build new renewable energy generation capacity. Most of the produced energy will be sold directly to private sector consumers such as cement companies and hotel groups.

Statoil Gets Approval to Develop Floating Offshore Wind Farm in Scotland

The Scottish government has approved Statoil’s plans to develop a 30-megawatt floating offshore wind development off the coast of Peterhead.
Statoil plans to develop a pilot park of five floating 6-MW turbines which is to be located approximately 25 kolometres off the coast of Peterhead with a generating capacity of 135 gigawatt hours of electricity each year. It is expected that the Hywind Scotland development could power up to 19,900 houses.

RWE Gets New Partners for 336-MW Offshore Wind Farm

RWE Innogy has managed to rope in three new project partners for 336-megawatt Galloper Offshore wind project off the coast of Suffolk in the UK.
UK Green Investment Bank , Siemens Financial Services and Macquarie Capital will join RWE Innogy in becoming 25% joint equity partners of the project. Construction of the project will start later this month.

Dong Energy to Develop 660-MW Offshore Wind Project on Irish Sea

Dong Energy has decided to proceed with the development of the 660-megawatt Walney Extension offshore wind farm, located in the Irish Sea, 19 kilometres off the west coast of Britain.
The final investment decision has been made after securing all necessary consents from authorities, completing site assessments and having signed the majority of the contracts for supply and installation to build the project.

EIB Extends US$182 Million Loan for Noblewind Offshore Project

The European Investment Bank will provide a €250 million (US$182 million) loan for the construction of the 165-megawatts Nobelwind wind farm off the Belgian coast.
A large portion of the amount will be proposed for backing under the European Fund for Strategic Investments . The total cost of the project is estimated to be €655 million, of which the EIB would provide approximately 38%.

Apple to Develop 200MW of Solar Projects in China

Apple has announced plans to develop 200 megawatts of solar projects as part of a program aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of its manufacturing partners in China. The programs will avoid over 20 million metric tons of greenhouse gas pollution in the country between now and 2020, equivalent to taking nearly 4 million passenger vehicles off the road for one year.
